behold
how
the beginning of the world
looks just like
the end of the world
baren and fluid
water and dirt and fire and
the winds making cells and seeds
driven by a mad wish of being and belonging and becoming
hands and claws and blue fins and green ropes and red feathers
and minutes and prophecies mean nothing
and nitrogen is just a part of it
and the atom is just a part of it
and oil is just a part of it
and the burning sun was already there
and the full moon was there already
and all the beheld galaxies
(give or take a few dead ones)
behold
now
the light is relative and the dark is relative
and the end is relatively close as the beginning is
relatively close
behold the seas and the forests
once more
relatively close in our books and pictures and screensavers and greenhouses
and more or less precise statistics and countdowns
the end
as the beginning
